Touch is our first sense to develop and our primary language of acceptance and belonging. Friendly, nurturing touch leads to greater connection, compassion, and empathy. The opposite is also true: lack of touch leads to violence and despair. This fundamental human need is in peril and needs to be redeemed through education and appropriate boundaries. Peer massage in the classroom has proven to increase calm, focus, and friendliness in students. We recommend getting everyone “on board”, with a whole-school training. This approach will ensure the success of the program. But, where this is not possible, you can purchase an individual training package.
"We forget that touch is not only basic to our species but the key to it.”
